Historic 1885 Courthouse

The William Carroll Crawford Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas are the docents of the Historic 1885 Shelby County Courthouse built by J. J. E. Gibson.

The courthouse is open for tours Thursdays and Fridays from 1pm until 4:30pm.  For general questions, call the Chamber of Commerce at 936-598-3682. Saturday tours or tours for groups of 8 or more are available with a minimum of 1 week advance notice needed. Call 936-332-4845 to schedule a tour. 

The Historic Courthouse is available for private events such as weddings or baby showers. If you are wanting additional information or to schedule a private event, please call Ann Blackwell at 936-598-3581. Please note: No alcohol is allowed on the premises of the Historic Courthouse.

The Shelby County Chamber of Commerce is located inside the old Shelby County Jail whose construction was also completed in 1885 with the same styling as the courthouse.  If you have questions beyond scheduling, email sc.courthousetours@gmail.com.  The DRT will respond as soon as possible.  Admission is free; however, donations are always welcome.
